Kuo was 2 years old when she got adopted by MARY, an American woman from upstate NY.

Yet, all her life, Kuo has been troubled one thing… she was a victim of an illegal baby export syndicate, and she has no idea who her birth parents are.

Between 1979-1982 the syndicate allegedly obtain babies via illegal methods, and sent them aboard to desperate families in the US, Australia, Switzerland, Finland, France, and Italy. The syndicate was eventually brought down and jailed.

With the assistance of the Taiwanese government and NGOs, Kuo and Mary visited Taiwan in July 2023. They held a press conference hoping to aid in the search for her family.

With a glimmer of hope, Kuo and Mary return to the US.

While in Taiwan they discover a new story about Kuo’s birth family and the reason why she was sent away 40 years earlier. Near the end of their trip, Kuo finds a name on the household registry that she has never seen before - the name of her alleged sister.
